Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Amani helps you make wishlists and share them with the people you choose. This policy explains what information Amani keeps, why, who can see it and what you can do about it. Amani is run by an individual developer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("Amani", "we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@amaniwishes.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and password. Passwords are stored encrypted, and we can never see them.
- Your profile: your name and username, plus anything you choose to add, such as a photo, bio, location, website or date of birth.
- What you create: wishlists, items, the photos you add, comments, likes, and the people you follow or block.
- Gift claims: when you mark that you will get someone a gift.
- Your phone number, only if you add one in Settings → Phone Number. We check it with a one-time code, then keep it with your choice of whether people who have your number can find you.
- Reports you send us about a person or a comment.
- Your settings, such as privacy, notification and display choices.
Your contacts
If you tap Find Contacts and allow access, Amani reads the phone numbers in your address book and sends them to our server to check which ones belong to people on Amani who chose to be findable. The numbers are compared and then thrown away. We never store your contacts, and their names never leave your phone.
If you invite a contact, Amani opens WhatsApp or Messages with a message you can edit and send yourself. We do not send anything to your contacts.
Your camera and photos
Amani uses your camera to take photos of wishlist items and to scan Amani QR codes, and your photo library when you choose a picture. Only the photos you add to Amani are uploaded. QR scanning happens on your phone; nothing from the camera view is saved or sent.
Shop links
When you paste a link to add an item, your phone visits that shop's page to read the product name, photo and price, the same way a web browser would. If you keep the photo, we save a copy with your item so it keeps working if the shop changes its page.
How we use your information
- To run Amani: show your wishlists to the people you choose, and show you theirs.
- To help friends find you, by username, QR code, or by phone number if you allowed it.
- To show you notifications in the app, such as a new follower or that a gift on your list was claimed.
- To send account emails, such as confirming your email address or resetting your password.
- To keep Amani safe: checking reports, and acting on accounts that break our Terms.
We do not show ads, sell your information, or use advertising, tracking or analytics tools.
Who can see what
- Your name, username and photo can be seen by people on Amani, unless you have blocked them.
- Public wishlists can be seen by people on Amani. If your account is private, only the followers you approve can see them.
- Private wishlists are for your followers only. Invitation-only wishlists are for the people you invite.
- Gift claims are secret: you see that a gift on your list is claimed, but never who claimed it.
- Your phone number and email address are never shown to anyone.
- People you block cannot see your wishlists or comments, and you will not see theirs. They are not told.
- Photos you add are stored at web addresses that are hard to guess, but anyone who has the exact address can open them. Only add photos you are happy to share.
Services we use
- Supabase: stores your account, wishlists and photos on servers in the European Union (Stockholm, Sweden).
- Twilio: sends phone verification codes by text message or WhatsApp. It receives your phone number to do this.
- Resend: sends our emails, such as email confirmation and password reset. It receives your email address to do this.
- Cloudflare: runs our website amaniwishes.com, including the pages that shared links open.
- Apple: distributes the app through the App Store and TestFlight, under Apple's own privacy policy.
We use a few trusted companies to run Amani. They only process your information to provide their service to us:
International transfers
Some of these companies process information outside the United Arab Emirates and your own country, for example in the European Union, the United States or Japan. We choose providers that protect personal information to recognised standards.
Our legal reasons
We use your information to provide the service you signed up for, to keep Amani safe and secure (our legitimate interest), and, for your contacts, camera, photos and phone number, because you chose to allow it. You can withdraw that choice at any time in the app or in your iPhone settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account in Settings → Delete Account, your profile, wishlists, items, photos, comments, claims, follows and phone number are deleted straight away. Copies in routine backups are overwritten within a short time. Our service providers may keep limited records, such as delivery logs, for as long as their own policies require.
Your rights
- See and change your information: edit your profile, wishlists and settings in the app.
- Delete everything: Settings → Delete Account.
- Remove your phone number or stop being findable: Settings → Phone Number.
- Get a copy of your information, ask a question, or object to how we use it: email hello@amaniwishes.com. We reply within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, data protection law (such as the UAE Personal Data Protection Law or, in Europe, the GDPR) may give you further rights, including complaining to your data protection authority.
Children
Amani is not for children under 13. If you live in a country that sets a higher minimum age for using online services, you need to be that age. If we learn that a child under that age has an account, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
